This grooved director designed by Drs. Anderson and Hwang greatly simplifies retrieval of the olive tip probe. When the grooved director is placed in the proper position under the inferior turbinate, the olive tip probe is easily felt to be in the groove and is engaged by the keyhole design. This placement engages the olive tip and prevents posterior migration of the olive tip that can occur with a standard grooved director. It also eliminates the posterior migration of the tip of the probe at intubation.

Advantages:

  • Minimizes trauma and bleeding of the nasal mucosa
  • Greatly simplifies the intubation technique by trapping the olive tip probe
  • Allows infracture expansion of the inferior meatus if the inferior turbinate is impacted
