Video exams can now be recorded in a non-degrading, high resolution, digital format.  DVD recorders allow for easy archiving and review on a less bulky medium than VHS. These devices record on DVD-RAM and DVD-R discs. The images can be reviewed frame by frame in forward and reverse.  Because the exams are recorded digitally, they can be e-mailed from a computer which supports DVD.

Video printers document still images of a patient’s exam for future reference. Also, a copy can be shared with the referring physician and the patient’s family.  The prints can be programmed to display 1, 2 or 4 images per page and a captioning feature allows text to be printed at the bottom of the page.
